PICC Services
Vascular Access
Our Vascular Access Specialists have a combined history of 50 years of clinical expertise in PICC placement. Our team utilizes the most modern technologies in the industry (via Bard) to achieve highly successful results with Vascular Access Device placements, either in the acute care setting or in the comfort of your home environment. We utilize 3CG technology for all applicable patients. This advanced technology alleviates the need for a chest x-ray, decreases the patient’s exposure to radiation, eliminating the wait time for tip confirmation; ultimately the line is immediately available for infusion!
Ultrasound Guided Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC)
A PICC line is a polyurethane or silicone catheter inserted in the upper arm, optimal tip placement is in the superior vena cava (SVC). We offer both single and double lumen catheters. Typically utilized for intermediate or long-term venous access for infusion of irritant, vesicant or hypertonic medications or solutions.
Ultrasound Guided Midline placement
A Midline is essentially a long peripheral IV and should be used for infusions that have minimal potential for causing vein damage – ph. >5 or <9 and/or osmolality no greater than 600mOsmo/L. Midlines are inserted in veins of the upper arm, typically 6-8 inches in length; tip does not extend past the axilla. Typically utilized for intermediate term therapy (>7 days, no >4-8 weeks), allowing for longer dwell time than short peripheral catheters, as well as, reducing the patient’s discomfort with IV starts.
We look forward to assisting you with your Vascular Access needs.
